1tablespoonunsalted butter (optional, for silkier chocolate)
1teaspoonvanilla extract (optional)
20–24 Peeps marshmallows (chicks or bunnies; any colors)
Pinch of flaky sea salt (optional, balances sweetness)
Dippers: graham crackers, pretzels, shortbread cookies, apple slices, or strawberries
Nonstick spray or a little butter for greasing the pan
Instructions
Preheat and prep: Heat the oven to 400°F (205°C).
Lightly grease a small oven-safe skillet or 8-inch baking dish.
Add chocolate base: Spread the chocolate chips evenly in the dish. Dot with butter and add vanilla if using. Sprinkle a small pinch of sea salt over the chocolate.
Top with Peeps: Arrange Peeps in a tight, even layer over the chocolate.
Leave as little space as possible so they toast evenly.
Bake: Place the dish on the center rack and bake for 6–8 minutes. Watch closely near the end. The Peeps should be puffed and lightly golden, and the chocolate should be melted and glossy around the edges.
Optional broil: For extra toasty tops, switch to broil for 15–30 seconds.
Keep the door cracked and your eyes on it—Peeps can brown quickly.
Serve hot: Remove from the oven and let it sit for 1–2 minutes. Serve immediately with graham crackers and other dippers.
Enjoy: Scoop with dippers, pulling up both the gooey Peeps and the melted chocolate in each bite.
